University Senate
The University Senate is the highest academic body at Justo Mwale University, entrusted with stewarding the institution’s academic mission in accordance with its Christian values and theological heritage. It oversees all matters related to teaching, research, program development, and student progression across the School of Theology and Religion, School of Education, School of Business Studies, and Skills Training Unit.
Guided by a commitment to excellence, integrity, and service, the Senate plays a pivotal role in shaping the intellectual and spiritual direction of the University. It ensures that all academic programs are rigorous, contextually relevant, and responsive to the needs of the Church, society, and the broader African community.

Academic Oversight and Program Development
- Approve, review, and monitor academic programs, curricula, and course content.
- Ensure alignment of academic offerings with the university’s mission and national standards.
- Promote innovation and contextual relevance in theological and professional education.
Research, Quality, and Standard
- Oversee research activities, postgraduate studies, and scholarly output.
- Uphold academic integrity, quality assurance, and continuous improvement across all faculties.
- Establish and enforce academic regulations, assessment criteria, and progression policies.
Student Affairs and Academic Progression
- Approve student admissions, academic awards, and graduation lists.
- Address matters related to student performance, discipline, and appeals.
- Promote student representation and inclusion in academic governance.
Institutional Collaboration and Academic Partnership
- Foster academic linkages, faculty development, and collaborative research.
- Advise the council on academic matters and strategic academic planning.
- Support the integration of digital learning and global best practices in higher education.
